A Beach Umbrella for Barbie

A while ago, when I was discovering the world of making Barbie clothes, I found a pattern to make a beach umbrella for Barbie doll.

It wasn’t very hard to make the umbrella, but the tricky part was the handle. At first I thought that a thin wooden stick should be a good choice, but then I remembered those little cocktail umbrellas. So I bought some cocktail umbrellas, took away the umbrella  part and sewed and glued the handle part in. It was quite hard to do, because the inner part of the cocktail umbrella is quite delicate and breaks very easily. But I did it! And the result was satisfying.

Here is a link to the pattern I used. By the way, the directions are in french. Unfortunately, I don’t speak french, so I improvised on choosing the hook and the thread. I think I used 1,3 mm hook (size 8 in US) and about size 10 cotton thread.
